Building Concept and Exterior

The concept for the initial building is a contemporary, sculptural "building in a park." The reflective facade enhances visual interest by mirroring and extending the natural beauty of the Park and its plantings, the river, and the sky. 

The building's exterior is comprised of a simple palette of materials which include architectural precast concrete, metal panel and high performance reflective glass.  

The building's exposures include the Park, the river, a landscaped plaza, and the Great Lawn.  The following 1.5-minute animation, prepared by Gensler, shows the "evolution" of the design of the building.
