Site Cleanup

To prepare the park for the various improvements, the following were completed:

• Removal of over 1,200 tons of metal and other debris
• Removal of over 176 tons of rubber
• Removal of 187 tons of tires
• Crushing and recycling on site as parking lot and roadway base of over 7,000 cubic yards of concrete
• Removal and off-site recycling of a 40-foot x 270-foot, 100-ton steel barge abandoned for over 40 years and affixed to the property’s bank at its southern end
• Treatment and removal of acres of phragmites and other invasive species
• Addition of 50,000 cubic yards of clean soil used as capping material
